Sales based replenishment

We offer all our retail customers a national service offer for supply management using Sales Based Replenishment (SBR) and Fulfilment criteria.

SBR and Fulfilment has been innovated and developed by Menzies to further enhance our core service; maximising sales efficiency for the retailer and sales effectiveness for the publisher. The current offer consists of the following:

SBR and Fulfilment

For the top 150 best selling monthlies and 31 best selling weeklies in our SBR facility we reduce initial supply to a net sales target. For these titles in both our SBR and Fulfilment facility, we automatically create sales replenishment orders for cases of predicted sell-out, through the daily monitoring of sales and the assessment of future sales requirements against product sales curves. The orders are picked, packed and delivered the following day.

Menzies SBR offer has been developed in conjunction with the PPA and we actively promote the development of the "standard offer". SBR applies for orders above 24 copies for monthlies with a consequent reduction of initial supply of 25%; and orders above 49 copies for weeklies with a consequent reduction of supply of 10%.

Development opportunities

There are variations to the SBR and Fulfilment offers described above regarding parameters for allocation gateways, reduction criteria, replenishment periods, titles involved etc where by mutual agreement special conditions apply. These are designed with individual retailer groups to enhance our core offer.Menzies is willing to meet with any of our customers to discuss development opportunities in this area, as part of our on-going process to improve the service offer.

We are continually working to expand the range of titles and offers available for this function, to offer flexibility in the current and future retailer market.

The benefits

This service has proven to offer an average 45% reduction in returns levels for our SBR customers; increased crude and shelf availability in supply replenishment for potential sell-out situations; and notable additional sales for both SBR customers and Fulfilment customers in particular.

EPOS requirements

The facility is open to all multiple and independent retailers providing clean and audited EPOS data on a daily basis. We require data from a reputable EPOS provider, and currently include CTN Systems and YP Electronic Systems in our third party provider client list.
